THOMAS COATSWORTH (1791?-1844?) AND HIS DESCENDANTS

Except where indicated, the information on which this page is based comes from notes kindly provided by Patricia Farrell, from whom details as to primary sources should be obtained.

Thomas COATSWORTH

According to information collected by Patricia Farrell at the Family History Centre in Hull, Thomas Coatsworth(1054) was born in 1791, which I presume is calculated from his age at marriage. It is not known where he was born or who his parents were. When he was 25 he applied for a licence on 28 Aug 1816, and married Mary Ann Briggs(1051), aged 21, on 29 Aug 1816 at Holy Trinity, Hull. A witness at the marriage was Elizabeth Brough Briggs, possibly Ann's elder sister.

Children of Thomas Coatsworth(1054) and Mary Ann Briggs (1051)

Thomas Coatsworth(1055) Born 1817 and, according to the IGI based on church registers, baptised at St. Mary's, Hull, on 29 Oct 1817. In the 1851 England census he is aged 34, with a wife, Eliza and three children.
Thomas George Coatsworth(1056) Born 1819 and, according to the IGI based on church registers, baptised at St. Mary's, Hull, on 16 Jun 1819.
John Coatsworth(1057) Born 1821 and, according to the IGI based on church registers, baptised at St. Mary's, Hull, on 29 Aug 1821. He died, aged 67, in Sculcoates. In the 1841 census he was an Apprentice Printer.
Ann Elizabeth Coatsworth(1058) Born 1824 presumably, and according to the IGI, based on church records, baptised at Holy Trinity, Hull, on 22 Jul 1824.
William Watson Coatsworth(1059) Born 1827 presumably, and, according to the IGI based on church registers, baptised at Holy Trinity, Hull, on 10 Jul 1827. He died in 1846 at Sculcoates.
Henry Coatsworth(1060) Born 1835, presumably, and, according to the IGI based on church registers, baptised at Drypool, Hull, on 09 Mar 1835. The FHL film no.919452 (Bishop's Transcripts)indicates that this baptism took place at the Church of England parish church. He died in 1894, aged 59, and the death was registered in Altrincham. Henry married Emma Consterdine(1061) on 01 Mar 1862 at St. John's Church, Manchester. Accordng to Patricia Farrell, the marriage certificate says that Henry was a Printer. Witnesses to the marriage were George Coatsworth, presumably the brother of Henry, and Eliza Jane Consterdine, probably a sister of Emma. They had nine children, details of which will be on Henry's separate page when it is ready. For the Consterdines, see the pages produced by Kay Lewis Baker on the Worldconnect site.
