Mary Cecelia PHILLIPS(1559) was born in Foo-Chow, China, on 12 Aug 1894, the second of two children of Hugh Stowell PHILLIPS(1334) and his first wife Minnie Mary APPERSON(1557) 1. She was baptised on 09 Nov 1894, along with two other babies, at the English church in Foo-Chow by the Rev. Stewart2, and less that a week later, on 17 Nov, her mother died.
In 1901, aged 6, a british subject born in Foochow (Fuzhou is the current romanisation), China, she was staying at her widowed grandfather's house in Southport, Lancashire3.
She married Mervyn DUKE and had a son Kenneth DUKE4, about whom I know nothing further.
